Joseph Michael Schement joined his mom, dad, and brother in heaven on May 14th, 2017.

A North Texas resident for the past 24 years, he is survived by his wife Amy, children Vincent Jacob, Sonya Rae, Luciana Marie, and Anthony Michael, his siblings, Dr. Jorge Reina Schement and wife Nancy, Linda Fraga and husband Ernesto, Debra Grant, Kathy Metcalf and husband Kyle, Silvia Cusick and husband Tom, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was born on May 10th, 1962, into a spirited Sicilian-Mexican family in San Antonio, TX. He was the second youngest of seven children. He graduated from Churchill High School in 1980, where he was a star soccer player. He attended UT San Antonio, and was part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon brotherhood. He had a heart of gold and was a friend to all.

Joseph was a man of passion and a master of his trade. He was a commercial construction superintendent; he loved working with his hands to create beautiful outdoor living spaces and molding his house into his family's dream home.

He had the best sense of humor, loved music and loved to dance. He will fondly be remembered for doing the splits on the dance floor and bringing life to any party.

The most important thing in the world was his family. Tradition runs deep in the Schement household. From tamale and cuccidati crafting to excursions to Padre Island National Seashore [the Shell] and snowboarding in the mountains, Joseph was at the center of it all.

He never missed a single extracurricular activity that his children were involved in. Joseph could be found standing for hours, in his cut off shirts and jean shorts, at the ball parks, track meets and wrestling tournaments. No matter what the outcome, his words of encouragement and pride always lifted his children.

"You're a Schement!" he would tell them, "You can do anything you put your mind to. As long as you had fun, I'm proud of you."

In times of rest and relaxation he could be found lounging with a glass of scotch, a good cigar, Dean Martin on the radio and his family by his side. In the end, he just wanted everyone to have a good time.

Joseph Michael Schement will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. However, he would not have you cry over him, but rather rejoice in the memories of his life, friendship and love. Celebrate, and let the good times roll.

Less-kings, Joseph.
