Lee Kingston Arnold, age 90 of Plano, Texas passed away on Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016.

Lee was born on March 15, 1926 in Carthage, Texas.

He was the first child born to Dewey C. Arnold and Sybil Arnold (nee Duke).

He was the "big brother" to Dewey Eugene (Sug) Arnold

Lee grew up in the depression era and he and his brother enjoyed fishing and other distractions they could find in the East Texas pine woods that surrounded Carthage. His father was an auto mechanic and he and Sug would often help with odd jobs around the shop.

He graduated from Carthage High School in the spring of 1943, and attended the University of Texas at Austin during the fall semester of 1943. Lee decided to drop out of college and join the US Navy in early 1944 during the World War II days.

At the end of the war and after discharge from the Navy, Lee returned to his hometown and began part time work at the United Gas Plant and also enrolled in Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Lee met his future wife Sue Murphy in Carthage; as she was also working at the United Gas plant.

Sue and Lee were married on August 5, 1950 at Central Baptist Church in Carthage, Texas. Shortly after their marriage, Lee graduated from Centenary College with a degree in geology and a minor in physics.

Immediately after his graduation, Lee began work as an exploration geophysicist and ran seismograph crews in several different places. Over the next 5 years the family lived in about 15 different locations including various towns in Texas, Alabama, Montana, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Lee joined Sunray DX Oil Company in 1956 and migrated out of the oil field and into the Midland, Texas regional office. After that, in addition to Midland, the family lived in Shreveport Louisiana, and Tulsa Oklahoma. Sun Oil merged with Sunray DX and as a result Lee and family made their final move to Plano, Texas in 1970.

Upon Lee's retirement in 1986, Lee and Sue travelled extensively all over North America and Europe.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Sybil Arnold and by his brother Sug Arnold. And, he was preceded by Sue Arnold, his loving wife of 65 years who passed away May 6, 2016

Lee is survived by his son Steve Arnold and wife Janie Arnold, and daughter Sandy Utley and husband Kelly Utley.

He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Amy Turner and husband Kyle, Bradley Arnold, Wesley Arnold, and Lindsay Lancaster and husband Chad, Erin Seabourne and husband Grant Seabourne, and Laura Utley.

He also is survived by 6 great grandchildren and by his and sister in law June Arnold and sister in law Dorothy (Dot) Beckham.

Lee was an avid golfer, and in fact at age 78 he "shot his age" Lee was also an good bridge player. Lee and Sue were members of and hosted bridge clubs in nearly every city they lived in over the years. Lee was a "people" person and was a good talker and enjoyed good natured banter and discussion.
